Account security
Protect your account and sensitive meeting data by enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
To access these settings, go to User preferences > Security.
Note: Security settings are global. Enabling 2FA protects your login across all your Harmony workspaces.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
2FA adds a second layer of security to your account. Even if someone steals your password, they cannot access your account without the verification code generated by your mobile device.
Why enable 2FA?
- Protection Against Password Theft: Blocks unauthorized access even if credentials are leaked.
- Secure Sensitive Data: Adds a barrier around your meeting transcripts and business insights.
- Compliance: Meets security standards required by many enterprise organizations.
How to enable 2FA
The setup process involves linking your Harmony account to an authenticator app on your phone.
Step 1: Initiate Setup
- Click the Enable 2FA button on the right side of the screen.
- A confirmation dialog will appear explaining the feature. Click the black Enable 2FA button to proceed.
Step 2: Link your Authenticator App
A "Set Up Two-Factor Authentication" modal will appear with a QR code and a list of backup codes.
- Open your preferred authenticator app on your mobile device (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator).
- Select "Add Account" or the + icon in your app and scan the QR Code displayed on your Harmony screen.
- Your app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter this code into the Enter verification code boxes.
Step 3: Save Backup Codes
Critical Step: Before finishing, look at the Backup Codes listed at the bottom of the modal.
- Copy these codes and save them in a secure location (like a password manager).
- If you lose your phone or delete your authenticator app, these codes are the only way to regain access to your account.
Step 4: Verify
Once the code is entered and backup codes are saved, click Verify to activate 2FA.
Once enabled, you will be prompted to enter a 6-digit code from your phone every time you sign in to a new session.
